Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Law, to commence on July 2, 2016, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure after satisfactory completion of a second fixed-term contract.
The Faculty of Law plays a leading role in legal education in Hong Kong and Asia, through its various undergraduate, research postgraduate, and taught postgraduate programmes covering a wide range of legal subject areas. It is the largest and oldest law teaching institution in Hong Kong, currently consisting of over 70 teaching members drawn from more than 17 jurisdictions worldwide. The appointee will be responsible for the teaching and development of courses in Contracts, Torts, Property, Trusts and related areas offered by the Department. They are expected to have obtained an undergraduate degree in Law (or a Juris Doctor degree), and a postgraduate degree in Law, and to demonstrate, in relation to the position of assistant professorship, either the potential to produce, at the minimum, internationally excellent research; or, in relation to the position of associate professorship, a track record of publications that are, at the minimum, internationally excellent – with some recent world-leading outputs.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
